    Description

Very rare and original, 1905 Program from “Buffalo Bill’s Wild West and Congress of Rough Riders of the World” with fantastic, chromolithograph covers and containing the original, "Official Program" / Play Bill which is tipped into the front on the Program. This rare and wonderful Program from Buffalo Bill’s Traveling Extravaganza was published in London for performances of the Wild West Show in England during their World Tour of 1905.
The Program measures approx. 7 1/4” by 9 1/2” and contains 80 pages of text and illustrations (plus the original chromolithographed paper wraps) relating to the show, its’ history, Buffalo Bill’s past as the Chief of the U. S. Army Scouts, the American West, Indian Fighting, Cowboys and many other aspects of the performers and the show. There is also an additional 4 page Play Bill tipped onto the first page which details the 23 "episodes" that made up the Show as it appeared during stops in England. The Program is titled on the cover "Buffalo Bill's Wild West / 10 Cents". This chromolithograph cover "Program" was not an Advance Courier but was the "Official Program" for performances in England that was sold on the Showgrounds.
The chromolithographed front cover of the Program features a portrait of William “Buffalo Bill” Cody atop his beloved horse Isham. Cody wears a buckskin jacket and calf high boots. He has removed his trademark, wide brimmed hat and salutes the unseen crowd while Isham executes a bow. Behind Buffalo Bill we see the American and French National Flags. The rear cover is chromolithographed with an advertisements for Waterman Pens.
As mentioned above, the first 4 pages of the Program features a complete "Play Bill" - a Schedule of the Performances that made up the Show in 1905. Besides extensive descriptive and informative text and many illustrations, the Program includes numerous pages of various product advertisements.
This very rare and fascinating, 1905 Buffalo Bill's Wild West and Congress of Rough Riders of the World European Tour Program is printed on a rather delicate paper stock and bound in its original, chromolithographed paper wrappers which are worn but intact. The front cover has edge wear, chipping at the spine edge and some small ink spots. The rear cover is well preserved but there is old tape reinforcements at the spine. The interior pages are generally in very good condition - complete, tight and generally clean throughout with light edge wear and uniform age toning throughout. Two of the pages have toning that appears to have been caused by leaves stored in the program for many years.
This type of Official Program from Buffalo Bill’s Wild West traveling Extravaganza - especially those that include the Show's Play Bill - is VERY rare and VERY desirable. The Programs for the Show's Tour of England are especially hard to find and this wonderful example is sold here, as always, without reserve and with the confidence that it will attract the serious attention that it justly deserves!!!

Important Notes about Shipping Charges and the eBay "Detailed Seller Rating" Star System:
The amount quoted for Shipping & Handling is calculated by eBay and is equal to the EXACT amount charged by the Post Office plus a .00 "packing fee" - the .00 fee is our only compensation for the virgin packing materials we use on all of our professionally packaged boxes as well as our cost for the salaried help that does most of our packing - as I am sure you can see, we make NO profit on the Shipping charges and, in fact, our costs are usually greater than the .00 fee.
