Grease is the word
Good girl Sandy and greaser Danny fell in love over the summer. But when they unexpectedly discover they're now in the same high school, will they be able to rekindle their romance. During a visit to America, Australian Sandy meets Danny Zuko at the beach and falls in love. She is heartbroken when Summer ends and she has to return home and their last kiss on the beach is a very emotional one. But fate lends a hand - her parents decide to stay in America and she finds herself attending the same school as Danny. But Danny at school is different from Danny at the beach. He is the leader of the T-Birds, a leather clad gang, and has a reputation to keep up. He can't be seen to fall in love with just one chick! Sandy is upset and seeks solace with some new friends she has made - a female gang called The Pink Ladies. But her prim and proper virginal ways do not fit in and she soon finds herself almost alone. A change must be made. Does she attempt to get her man by turning him into a jock? Or must she get rid of her "Sandra Dee" image?

MORE INFO ON OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN: Actress/singer Olivia Newton-John was born on September 26, 1948, in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England. She lived there until she was five years old, and her family relocated to Australia when her father was offered a job as the dean of a college in Melbourne. When she was a teen she returned to live in England with her mother, after winning a singing talent contest. She had many hit singles and appeared on TV series with Cliff Richard as well as in the film Toomorrow (1970). For a while she was engaged to Bruce Welch, a member of The Shadows, who backed Richard.
Olivia took the advice of a friend, and in the mid-'70s left Britain to take up residence in America to help further her singing career.
She lived in Cambridge, England, when she was a young girl. Soon after dropping out of Australia's University High School when she was in her mid-teens she returned to live in London, England. She had taken the suggestion of her favorite teacher to pursue her dream of becoming a singer. She later moved to Los Angeles in the mid-'70s, where she still resides.
Sister of Rona Newton-John and Hugh Newton-John, a doctor.
Underwent surgery for breast cancer. [1992]
She grew up in both England and Australia. In 1954 (at age 5), she moved to Australia but returned to live in England 10 years later until she was 27.
In 1975, she moved to the USA where she had already become well-established as a Pop and Country singer.
Her winning of a talent contest in Australia led her back to England and on her path as a successful singer, performer and actress.
Best known as a singer, she has over 25 Top 40 singles, more than half of which went Top 10, including five #1 hits.
Well known songs include "Let Me Be There", "I Honestly Love You", "Have You Never Been Mellow", "Please Mr. Please", "Summer Nights", "You're The One That I Want", "Hopelessly Devoted To You", "Magic", "Xanadu", "Physical", "A Little More Love", and "Twist of Fate."
Her biggest hit was "Physical" which sold over 2 million copies and spent 10 consecutive weeks at #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 (beginning 21 November 1981).
In 1988 she visited Australia to make a television special titled Olivia Down Under (1988) (TV) to coincide with the Bicentennial. She and Cliff Richard performed and Prince Charles and Princess Diana were also present.
Received a special mention in "The Goodies" (1970) episode: "Saturday Night Grease".
Chosen by People Magazine as one of the 50 most beautiful people in the world. [1998]
While recording her first hit "If Not For You," Olivia's dog was in the studio with her and at one point knocked over a microphone stand. The noise is still evident in the song today (during the instrumental bridge near the end of the song).
Her ex-brother-in-law is Jeff Conaway, who co-starred with her in Grease (1978).
Aunt of actress Tottie Goldsmith.
Daughter Chloe Lattanzi born in 1986.
Her song "Physical" was banned by a radio station in Provo, Utah for its "suggestive" lyrics. She still had a concert in the Dee Events Center in Ogden, Utah, filmed for video.
MORE INFO ON JOHN TRAVOLTA: One of six children born to Helen Travolta and Salvatore Travolta, John Travolta grew up in Englewood, New Jersey. His father owned a tire repair shop in Englewood. Travolta appeared in a local production of "Who'll Save the Plowboy?". His mother enrolled him in a drama school in New York, where he studied voice, dancing and acting. He decided to combine all three of these skills and become a musical comedy performer. At 16 he landed his first professional job in a summer stock production of the musical "Bye Bye Birdie". He quit school at 16 and moved to New York, and worked regularly in summer stock and on television commercials. When work became scarce in New York, he went to Hollywood and appeared in minor roles in several series. A role in the national touring company of the hit 1950s musical "Grease" brought him back to New York. An opening in the New York production of "Grease" gave him his first Broadway role at age 18. After "Grease", he became a member of the company of the Broadway show "Over Here", which starred The Andrews Sisters. After ten months in "Over Here", he decided to try Hollywood once again. Once back in Hollywood, he had little trouble getting roles in numerous television shows. He was seen on "The Rookies" (1972), "Emergency!" (1972) and "Medical Center" (1969) and also made a movie, The Devil's Rain (1975), which was shot in New Mexico. The day he returned to Hollywood from New Mexico, he was called to an audition for a new situation comedy series ABC was planning to produce called "Welcome Back, Kotter" (1975). He got the part of Vinnie Barbarino and the series went on the air during the 1975 fall season. The rest, as they say, is history.
MORE INFO ON THE BEE GEES: Pop group of the 1960s onwards consisting of Barry Gibb and his younger brothers, twins Robin Gibb and Maurice Gibb.
Although it's often believed that the group's name is an acronym for the Brothers Gibb, they have said that the name was to honor two friends with the same set of initials who gave them a lot of help when they were first starting out: a man named Bill Goode and a disc jockey named Bill Gates.
